Hegel was such a handsome man, eh?

Been wondering what the hell Eli is talking about? Want to truly understand Hegel and Marx? Really like socialist hippie musicals?

Dialectics 4 Kids!

Featuring the crazy hit song We're in a Spiral Spin

As a sidenote, the son of the guy who makes this website is a NYU film grad who just made a movie called Half Nelson, which is about a middle school teacher who teaches dialectics, but can’t kick his crack habit. (Keith, do you know this guy?)

My favorite dialectic is the master-slave dialectic (paragraph 178 of Hegel's _Phenomenology of Spirit_): "SELF-CONSCIOUSNESS exists in itself and for itself, in that, and by the fact that it exists for another self-consciousness; that is to say, it is only by being acknowledged or “recognized”. The conception of this its unity in its duplication, of infinitude realizing itself in self-consciousness, has many sides to it and encloses within it elements of varied significance. Thus its moments must on the one hand be strictly kept apart in detailed distinctiveness, and, on the other, in this distinction must, at the same time, also be taken as not distinguished, or must always be accepted and understood in their opposite sense. This double meaning of what is distinguished lies in the nature of self-consciousness: — of its being infinite, or directly the opposite of the determinateness in which it is fixed. The detailed exposition of the notion of this spiritual unity in its duplication will bring before us the process of Recognition."

And my second favorite is Juvenile's "ha" dialectic:
"You a paper chaser, you got your block on fire
Remaining a G until the moment you expire
You know what it is yo make nothing out of something
You handle your biz and don't be cryin and suffering"

I don't know him but I'm pretty sure I dislike him.
