Okkervil River

Okkervil River are an awesome band that Cuc told me about a year ago but that I haven't really listened until recently - maybe i had to grow into the right frame of mind to appreciate them. They're indie-country storytellers, sorta like bright eyes with the singer's slight lisp and passionate vocals, but less annoying. Listen to For Real and Black off of their album black sheep boy (all of their albums have rad artwork).

oh, so that's how sidesplittaz made pitchfork's top 200 songs of the 60s, right after CCR. (mashup: "i ain't no fortunate son, i just fuck a lot.")

Black Sheep Boy is one of my favorite albums of recent memory. Music critic "The Cooch" called it a concept album. I'm going to see them in Austin at and ACL aftershow. Will Sheff is the next great songwriter.
